Self Risk

The Partial Insurance package reduces the Self Risk amount from 150.000 ISK to 90.000 ISK.

Two items are included in this package without any self-risk amount tied to them; tire insurance and windscreen insurance.

What's included?

Gravel protection

The lessee is partially insured for any damages caused by rocks thrown onto the car by other vehicles, on a gravel road, which might damage the paint of the car.

Damages caused by gravel chipping can incur a self-risk amount of 90.000 ISK.

Sand and ash protection

The lessee will be partially covered against possible damages caused by sand and/or ash storms. These kinds of storms can cause considerable damage to the car, including the paint, windows, and lights.

Damages caused by sand and ash damage can incur a self-risk amount of 90.000 ISK.

Super collision damage waiver

Partially covers the lessee in case of damages to the car due to a collision or another type of traffic accident.

Damages caused by such collisions and accidents can incur a self-risk amount of 90.000 ISK.

Tire insurance

The lessee will be fully covered against possible damages of the tires. This includes covering the cost of repairing the tire or buying a new one, if is not salveagable.

The insurance also covers the workshop cost of mounting the fixed/new tire.

You will however have to change the tire yourself when you have a flat and bring the damaged tire to a workshop.

No self-risk amount will be charged for this type of damage, with the Partial Insurance package.

Windscreen/Windshield insurance

Fully covers the lessee in case of damage to the windscreen resulting in the need to change the windscreen. This includes damages such as chips or breaks due to gravel or other damage.

No self-risk amount will be charged for this type of damage, with the Partial Insurance package.

Exceptions

There are exceptions to both insurance packages, where certain behaviours or actions, leading up to an accident, will invalidate your insurance and incur the full self-risk amount.

You can read about those here.
